Unlike macOS, MetaServer (our lightweight server application that enables communication between MetaGrid Pro and your PC) does not create MIDI ports automatically. Instead, you need to use virtual MIDI cable software. We recommend LoopMIDI for this purpose.
Step 1: Install and Set Up LoopMIDI
1. Download and install LoopMIDI on your PC.
2. Create the following MIDI ports in LoopMIDI:
Bi-directional Communication for Selected Channel Control
These ports allow MetaGrid Pro to control selected channel parameters in Cubase (e.g., volume, pan, inserts, sends, etc.):
• Metasystem - Cubase Sync - In
• Metasystem - Cubase Sync - Out
Command Handling for MetaGrid Pro Commands Device
These ports handle commands sent to Cubase via MetaGrid Pro:
• Metasystem - Cubase - In
• Metasystem - Cubase - Out
MIDI Communication for Grid Objects
These ports manage MIDI communication from MetaGrid Pro grid objects (buttons, faders, XY pads, etc.):
• Metasystem - MIDI - In
• Metasystem - MIDI - Out
MCU Timecode Display
This port is used for timecode display and should be assigned as the output port for the MCU device in Cubase:
• Metasystem MCU
Step 2: Configure MIDI Ports in MetaServer
1. Right-click the MetaServer icon in the Windows system tray.
2. Navigate to Setup > MIDI.
3. Assign the MIDI ports exactly as listed below.
💡 Important: Ensure that the names and assignments match the descriptions precisely to avoid communication issues.
Once configured, MetaServer is ready to handle MIDI communication for Cubase MIDI Remote Integration on Windows. 🎛️ 🎶
